Something that has been really bothering me lately is how everyone wants to be a fashion icon. From actors, to singers, to celebrities' girl friends. Not to hate or anything but I believe a passion for fashion does not develop overnight, but over a period of time. I also believe that in order to become a fashion icon you have to be known for something. Take Grace Jones, known for her high top fade, chiseled bone structure, and androgynous style. Fashion super model Twiggy, known for her make-up, mod look, and androgynous style. Irene Castle, known for the woman to take "the bob" haircut mainstream. Coco Chanel, known for wearing dark colors and not being bound to feminine fashions, also known for creating one of the first pant suits. Jacqueline Kennedy, known for being the best dressed American first Lady, with her perfectly tailored Balmain skirt suits and dresses, and never leaving a hair out of place. Micheal Jackson, known for his tightly fitted short trousers with white socks and oxfords and also his sequenced silver gloves. Madonna, known for her cone shape white bra and over-the-top 80s fashions.
These are just some of many fashion icons who have earned their titles over years of fashion. Today fashion lovers have made it far to easy too gain that title. Giving it to stars such a Beyonce, Rihanna, Amber Rose, Kim Kardashian, Ciara, Nicki Minaj, and many more. To me they don't deserve it at all, first of all their stylists should get all the credit because most of them are "LATE BOOTS, MAKING ME WANT TO DRINK A CUP OF COFFEE!" I believe that over time more fashion icons will develop but right now we need to stop giving them that title and just call them "IT GIRLS".
