SMOKY EYE

The Smoky eye is a make-up technique used both in High fashion and everyday fashion. Many people think that the Smoky eye is a new technique, discovered by modern make-up artists, but it wasn't. The Smoky eye has been around since the Bronze age, which was about 3500 B.C; it was used by Egyptian royalty and the rich, both male and female. The original name for it was called Kohl. The first use Kohl was to protect the Egyptians eyes from the sun's rays, and eye ailments. Some people believed that it would strengthen the eyes. Kohl was a dark mineral that was combined with other ingredients. Mascara was also made from Kohl. Today Designers such as Chanel, Lanvin, Givenchy, Balmain, Yves Saint Laurent, Christian Dior, Alexander McQueen, and Alexander Wang use the technique frequently.
